VAUGHAN, ON - Zeidler Partnership Architects, a Toronto architectural firm, has been selected to lead the planning, design and compliance aspects of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital project. The new, state-of-the-art hospital will be constructed in Vaughan at Major Mackenzie Drive and Jane Street.
The planning, design and compliance team will establish the guidelines and performance requirements that the successful building team must meet when preparing their designs. The team will also monitor construction progress and provide coordination and oversight services throughout the course of the project.
The new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital will include:
- a state-of-the-art emergency department
- modern surgical services and operating rooms
- acute inpatient and intensive care beds
- technologically-advanced diagnostic imaging
- specialized ambulatory clinics
- single acute care patient rooms for infection prevention and control
- a flexible design to permit adaptation over time as new thinking and best practices emerge
Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are working with Mackenzie Health to build the new facility, which will be publicly owned, publicly controlled and publicly accountable.
Infrastructure Ontario is a Crown agency of the Province of Ontario that delivers large, complex infrastructure renewal projects on time and on budget. Over the last six years, the province has applied Infrastructure Ontario's alternative financing and procurement model to 83 major projects valued at approximately $38 billion, saving taxpayers an estimated $3 billion.
