About the Project
- Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre's Phase 1 Expansion Project doubled the size of the previous facility and included the addition of the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.
- This new cancer centre provides comprehensive care to more than 2,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients each year throughout Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka.

Community And Green Benefits
- The Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre logged more than 60,000 patient visits in its first year, providing residents of Simcoe and Muskoka with close-to-home access to advanced cancer care.
- Expansion space for two future patient care units to assist the Royal Victoria Hospital in continuing to meet the health care needs of a growing and aging community.
Economic Benefits
- At the height of construction approximately 300 workers were on site every day, the majority of whom were from the Barrie area.
