LONDON - A sign was unveiled today at St. Joseph's Health Care, London, revealing the future of health care improvements in the community. The project sign, located at St. Joseph's Hospital, was uncovered by Deb Matthews, London North Centre MPP, and Cliff Nordal, president and CEO of St. Joseph's Health Care, London. The sign provides highlights of the key components of the redevelopment project.

The project is being delivered through ReNew Ontario, the government's $30-billion plus infrastructure investment plan.

“The provincial government is committed to improving healthcare facilities across Ontario,” said MPP Matthews. “This redevelopment project will allow St. Joseph's to continue to play a vital role in providing quality health care and treatment.”

The project involves the redevelopment of the acute/ambulatory care facility at St. Joseph's Hospital.  Services and facilities to be provided in the redeveloped health care centre include:

  • Urgent care
  • Cataract suite
  • Urology suite
  • Endocrinology and diabetes services
  • Health records
  • Short-stay facilities

“We're pleased to be working closely with the Province to deliver this initiative for the benefit of London-area residents,” said Nordal. “Our physicians and staff look forward to a redeveloped facility where we can continue to provide quality care to our patients.”

Infrastructure Ontario will work with St. Joseph's Health Care to redevelop the hospital, which will remain publicly owned, controlled and accountable.  Infrastructure Ontario is a Crown corporation dedicated to managing some of the Province's larger and more complex infrastructure renewal projects - ensuring they are built on time and on budget.

The project is guided by principles outlined in the Province's Building a Better Tomorrow framework, which ensures public ownership of core assets such as hospitals, courthouses, schools, and water and wastewater facilities.  The St. Joseph's Health Care project is one of many infrastructure projects that are being upgraded and modernized under ReNew Ontario.
