Infrastructure Ontario and Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation announced today the three companies shortlisted to submit proposals to design, build and finance the new children's treatment centre. The new facility will be built on Wellington Street across from the Regional Rehabilitation Centre.

Based on a request for qualifications process that began in September 2012, three companies were shortlisted and will be invited to respond to a request for proposals, expected to be issued in spring 2013. Each company includes a developer, design and construction firms, and a financial advisor:

  • PCL Contractors Canada Inc.
  • Integrated Team Solutions
  • The Kids Health Infrastructure Solutions

Once complete the new building will be fully accessible and will include an outdoor wheeling track, a therapeutic playground and physiotherapy space.  The new site will bring together a number of programs that are currently located at Hamilton Health Sciences' Chedoke site, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders services
  • Child and Youth Mental Health Program
  • Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation services
  • Prosthetic and Orthotic services

Together, these programs accommodate 70,000 visits annually. The new centre will provide patient and family-focused service and individualized programming based on the needs of children and their families.

Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services are working with Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation to build the new McMaster Children's Health Centre, which will remain publicly owned and controlled.
