Request For Qualifications Issued To Establish Shortlist Of Qualified Project Teams

QUEEN'S PARK - The Ontario government took another step forward today in its five-year infrastructure investment strategy by announcing a request for qualifications (RFQ) for project teams to build and finance six new infrastructure initiatives.

“Today marks another milestone for all these initiatives,” said Minister of Public Infrastructure Renewal David Caplan.  “These projects are part of the McGuinty government's five-year $30-billion infrastructure renewal plan to modernize infrastructure and ensure value for taxpayer dollars as we build strong, prosperous communities.”

“The McGuinty government's investment in these healthcare projects represents an important part of our plan to modernize hospitals, reduce wait times and upgrade medical facilities and equipment across the province,” said Health and Long-Term Care Minister George Smitherman.

The combined RFQ process comprises five hospital projects and one youth justice facility, as follows:

  • Quinte Healthcare Corporation - Belleville Site redevelopment
  • Trillium Health Centre - Mississauga and Queensway Sites expansion and redevelopment
  • Sudbury Regional Hospital - phase two restructuring
  • St. Joseph's Health Care, London - St. Joseph's Hospital Site redevelopment
  • Bluewater Health (Sarnia) - Norman Site expansion and renovation
  • GTA Youth Centre (Brampton) - new youth justice facility

Once qualified project teams have been short-listed, they will be invited to respond to individual request for proposal (RFP) for the above projects.

These projects will be managed by Infrastructure Ontario, a crown corporation, under the government's Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) program. The six infrastructure projects are among many that are proceeding under the ReNew Ontario five-year infrastructure investment plan.
