Sustainability Fairs at four government-owned facilities promote an earth-friendly approach

TORONTO - Infrastructure Ontario (IO) Property Services will be hosting or participating in Sustainability Fairs in each region of the province during Earth Week.  The events will help raise awareness on the importance of reducing our ecological footprint and serve as a forum to share earth-friendly practice and tips.

The regional Sustainability Fairs are as follows:

Tuesday, April 18 - Ontario Government Building, 659 Exeter Road, London

Wednesday April 19 - Macdonald Block, 900 Bay Street, Toronto

Wednesday, April 19 - Ontario Government Building, 189 Red River Road, Thunder Bay

Thursday, April 20 - Ontario Government Building (Robinson Place), 300 Water Street, Peterborough (hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry)

The Sustainability Fairs hosted by IO Property Services will feature a number of exhibitors, ranging from municipalities to local community groups focused on everything from waste management to conservation, forests, food, gardening and even recycled furniture and clothing.  IO Property Services will be sharing wildflower-seeded bookmarks, which can actually be planted in the ground.

QUICK FACTS

  • Earth Day is Saturday, April 22, 2017 and will be celebrated around the world.
  • IO Property Services turned the lights off at 47 government-owned facilities for Earth Hour on Saturday, March 24, 2017.
  • The MNRF Earth Fair in Peterborough is taking place at the award-winning Robinson Place at 300 Water Street.  It was the first government-owned facility in Canada to achieve LEED Platinum EBOM status (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design -- Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance).
